Thank A Teacher and Teacher Appreciation Week

Thank A Teacher and Teacher Appreciation Week!

During the month of May, we celebrate teacher appreciation!  I also have great news!  Mrs. Yollis won the Thank A Teacher contest!  I would like to thank Mrs. Yollis, my second grade teacher and my first grade teacher, Mrs. Broussard. I think that having teachers like Mrs. Yollis and Mrs. Broussard has helped me  do well in 1st grade and 2nd grade.

If you would like to thank a teacher, please drop by and leave me a comment!

What do you love about your teachers?

  1. Dear Peter,

Thank you for writing such a lovely post about your teachers! They sound like wonderful people! ;-)

As a teacher, I love many things about being in the classroom. First of all, I love watching students grow and become strong students who are confident and enjoy learning. I have certainly enjoyed watching you develop over the year. You have become a wonderful reader and exceptional writer. Second, I enjoy learning new things. Believe it or not, teachers are always learning too! I have learned right along side many of you as we have explored with iPads this year.

What is your favorite subject in school? What is your least favorite subject?

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for being such an inspirational blogger. My favorite subject is reading, my least favorite is math.

I will write a Haiku about this wonderful school year.

    2. @ Peter,

I love how you replied with a poem! You are a clever one! Well done!

You asked what was my favorite subject when I was in school. I enjoyed math and reading. At first, math was a little tricky for me, but I always asked follow up questions so I could learn more. For example, I remember when I first learned about place value. Understanding that a seven in the ones place is different than a seven in the tens place was confusing at first!

Reading was also a pleasure. A series I enjoyed reading was the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. Ramona is such a funny character. She makes me laugh even when she doesn't necessarily mean to.

Here is a haiku for you about school:

      Dendrites grow daily,
      Thinking and learning with friends,
      Vocabulary!

      Your proud teacher,
      Mrs. Y♥llis
