  2. Dear Peter,

You have a wonderful blog. I like how you were in the soccer field in the picture. I have seen you in the soccer field before because I go to the same place. Since I am in a higher level, I have never played you. In that picture you look like an All Star player. Have you ever seen me?

    Sincerely,
    Parsa

    1. Dear Parsa

I have seen you play soccer. I really appreciate that you think I look like an all star. Thank you! It is true that we haven't played each other, but maybe someday. My season is over now, but I start back up in the fall! I love soccer, and I think that NEXT season will grow harder, and our team will get even stronger.

      What is you team name?

      Your friend,

  3. Dear Peter,

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! You have demonstrated a fabulous ability to write and connect with people in the comment section on our class blogs. I really admire that about you, Peter.

I agree with the Parsa, you have chosen a great photo for the Internet. It shows you out on the field playing, yet it does not reveal too much personal information. Well done!

What are some topics you are considering for your readers? Do you have a camera that you can use on your posts?

    Your proud teacher,

Thank you! I will enjoy the wonderful world of blogging! I do have a digital camera and a i-Pad but, it will not go into blogger with the i-pad.

      Warmly,

  4. Hi Peter!
Congratulations on earning your own blog! I too feel that blogging is a great way to improve writing.
I am from Omaha, Nebraska. Can you believe we might get snow tomorrow? Weather is so crazy here in Nebraska!
I really like it when bloggers post pictures. It gives me a better idea about what the person enjoys.
    Good luck!

  6. Brilliant work on your very first blog Peter. Find some widgets for down the side of your blog but remember they should be for learning or tracking your visitors. You might like one that counts your visitors or shows the latest comment.
Always remember that what you post on the Internet can be seen by everyone so check - would your mum, granny or teacher be proud of the post - if they'd approve then it should be fine.
    Happy blogging.

  7. Dear Peter
Congratulations on achieving your own blog! I agree with your comment that blogs are a great way of making long-distance friends, as that is how I met Mrs Yollis and our classes became friends.

I see from your photo that you are a soccer player. How long have you been playing soccer? Are there other sports that you enjoy playing too?

You might also like to blog about the books you are reading. I'm sure you could recommend good books for other 8 year olds to try!

    1. Dear Mrs. McKenzie,

Thank you! I do read good books for eight year olds, and I have a series that I am going to post about. I highly recommend Diary of the Wimpy kid, it is my favorite series.

I've been playing soccer for two years. I liked it until I found out we had slide tackles.

      Your blogging loving buddy,

      Peter

    2. Dear Peter
I don't think I would like doing slide tackles either!
It's just as well you don't play rugby, which is a very popular game in New Zealand. The players do a lot of tackling, and also often do big slides along the ground when they score a try.
The younger teams aren't allowed to do tackles, they play touch rugby until they are about 8 or 9.

What sport would you play if you didn't play soccer?

  8. Great start to your blog, Peter!

I am a teacher in New Zealand and I visited your blog by clicking on a link Mrs. Yollis tweeted.

You write very clearly in your post and the image is interesting and adds to the content. My two pieces of advice would be to update regularly and continue to include images and other multimedia which suit each post.

    1. Hello Blogging Friend,

Thank you for saying that you love my blog name! I will post once a week as long as I do not have that much homework. Some of the topics that I will post about are my favorite book collection, and a lizard I saw.

I hope to see you comment again!

    2. Peter, I do have blogs. In fact I have a bunch of them! (It can be pretty addictive to write online :) I have been blogging and blogging with my students for over five years now. Imagine, in five years you will be in middle school. Do you think you will still be blogging then?

    3. Dear Mr. C,

I hopefully will still be blogging in middle school. Mrs. Yollis told me you created Comments4kids.com. I think that is so cool! Do you know that I am a second grader, and I have a blog? I think that is pretty cool.

Mrs. Yollis said that you live in Missouri. Are you in tornado alley? If so, when was the last tornado? What was the worst tornado you have ever been in?

      Sincerely,
      Peter

    4. Peter, it is very cool you have your own blog. Not many second graders (almost third grade now ;) have one. I kind of live in tornado alley. The town I live in has lots of hills around it so it is pretty safe where I live, but tornados have touched down a couple miles from my house. It was on a hilltop!

I live about 50 minutes south of Joplin. Did you hear about the tornado that hit there in 2011? It was a very bad tornado that tore up a lot of the south part of town. I went to college in Joplin years ago, Missouri Southern State University is on the north side of Joplin, so it didn't have any bad damage.

Fortunately, I have never been in a tornado and I hope I am never in one. They are terrifying and do a lot of damage. There are tornadoes that come down every year in my county though.

  11. Congratulations! I think that your blog is very easy to read and navigate. The biggest improvement will be adding more writing. You will also want to be a good model of responsible blogging. I look forward to reading your future posts. What do you think you will write about?

I would reccommend that you write about things that are important to you and things that you are invovled in. For instance you have a photograph of you playing Soccer so you could write about that details some of the things that you experience with your sport.

    1. Dear Mr. Webb and Room Five,

Thank you very much for leaving a comment on my blog! I will give you some detailed sentences about soccer. Here they are: My team is named the Dynamo Strikers. We were undefeated until the fifth game. I usually play goalkeeper or forward, but I prefer forward.

Unusual to play both Goalkeeper and a Forward. Have you scored many goals this season?

    3. Dear Melville Intermediate School, New Zealand,

Yes, it is pretty unusual to play both goalkeeper and a forward. I probably scored at least five or seven goals this season.
